RE: Considering Ives Run PA? Read this

Mikesr - I hope your trip goes well. I have been to Ives Run campground when the lake is full; it was beautiful. I also am very interested in some pics of the lake and campground. Please send pics and comments about campground, atmosphere and management.

Considering Ives Run PA? Read this

I just heard that Ives Run campground will be draining the lake to make access for "improvements". I was told that you will not be able to launch a boat from any ramp on Hammond or Tioga Lakes due to the 10 foot drawdown. I was also told that you will not be able to fish from shore because the shoreline will be a mucky mess. In addition the Ives Run Beach will be closed. If they drain the lake, I would think that the decaying algae around the entire shoreline would produce a strong offensive odor. Can anyone confirm if what I heard is true?

Is longer better?

I have not been able to determine the best route to go from Buffalo NY to Hagerstown MD. Some are saying that I should travel mid-state south thru NY and PA and on to Hagerstown. Today someone advised me to travel west on 90, south on 79, east on 76, south on 70 and 81 into Hagerstown. This route is longer than traveling thru mid PA, but I am told it is quicker. My goal is to avoid as many hills as I can. Can you confirm if the “90” route is the best and is it really quicker even though it has more miles than the “20 to 63 to 390 to 17…” route. I would really appreciate your help and advice. I knew I could depend on an RV.net friend to give me some good advice.

15 or 220

Which route between Williamsport to Harrisburg PA requires less breaking. Which route has the least amount of steep hills?

RE: Thru the hills from Buffalo to Hagerstown

Heading south from Williamsport PA to Harrisburg PA, which route is less steep, 15 or 220. I am hoping that one route is better than the other, without white-knuckle maneuvers.

Thru the hills from Buffalo to Hagerstown

I am hitting the road soon and need some help with directions. I will be traveling from Buffalo NY to Hagerstown MD. My goal is to avoid the steepest inclines and declines (mountains & hills). I am considering three different routes. 219 - 80 - 99 - 22 - 70 or 90 east - 390 - 15 - 11 - 81 or 90 west - 79 - 76 - 70. Is one of these better than another or is there a better choice other than the three I have stated. Thanks for your help and experience.

Higher gas price, less travel?

According to the US federal census data my income falls in the median middle class range. Does your income have a lot to do with your RV plans? Although the gas prices are very painful, I have not decided to do less RVing or taking shorter trips. In fact I will probably travel more miles this year than last. Are you planning on traveling less or will the gas price not deter you from RVing. Will you shorten your trips? Will you take less trips?

RE: Lake George RV Park

I have been there two times over the past three years. I prefer the section on top near the office/store. I find it not to be as "busy" and noisy as the other sections of the campground. I like the convenience of being by the store, showers and pool. Most of these sites have trees for shade and beauty. And my kids love riding their bikes down the hills in this section of the campground. I love Lake George RV. It is one of my favorite campgrounds. A bit pricey, but worth it. You can go wrong.

Snow storm in Buffalo. Rather be in Ocean Waves NC

I am planning on staying at Ocean Waves Campground, Outer Banks, NC. Can you tell me anything about this campground and surrounding area “must sees” (other than the warm sunny beach)?

Ives Run PA

Can anyone let me know what they think of Ives Run? Also, I heard there is a beach by the lake. Is this true and have you used it?
